Overview

If your visa application is approved, your documents will be returned to you by one of the two delivery options described below:

  • Collection from one of the Mail Boxes Etc offices listed below - this delivery option is free of charge
    • Mail Boxes Etc 0001 located at Charlottenstraße 17, Berlin, 10117 - opening times Monday to Friday,  08:30 - 19:00
    • Mail Boxes Etc 2545 located at Schleißheimer Straße 15, Garching bei München, 85748 - opening times Monday to Friday 09:00 - 18:00
    • Mail Boxes Etc 0009 located at Eschersheimer Landstraße 42, Frankfurt, 60322 - Opening times Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00

When coming to collect your passport from the Mail Boxes Etc. locations you will be required to present a photo ID. If somebody else will come to collect the passport on your behalf, that person will be required to provide a signed authorization letter and a copy of the applicant’s photo ID.

The passport will be available for pickup at the Mail Boxes Etc. location for a maximum of 14 calendar days.

  • Premium Home Delivery - Your documents will be sent to the address indicated in the profile via UPS delivery services. There is an additional fee of 18.03 eur for this delivery option, which will have to be paid at the time of scheduling an interview or registering for interview waiver. Please ensure that your name, as stated in your profile, is also on the mailbox. If the shipment does not state the correct name and address, the courier will not be able to deliver your documents and they will be returned to the sender.Please note that UPS does not deliver on Saturdays.

Note: If your visa is denied, you may request a refund of the premium delivery fee by sending an email to USGSSGermanyref@vfsglobal.com and the indicating the DS-160 number. Once the visa refusal is confirmed, a refund will be issued to the card that was used for the payment of the premium delivery fee, within 6 - 7 calendar days. 

You will receive a notification via e-mail and SMS as soon as your passport is ready to be delivered/ to be collected from the selected location. 

Please note that your documents can only be returned to an address in Germany.

Note: Personal pickup of your passport at the issuing Diplomatic Post is not possible.

Change Delivery Options

You may change your preferred document delivery address online or through the call center until 23:59 the day before your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your delivery preferences.

We strongly advise you not to change the delivery option or pick-up location after the time limit. Any changes to your  after this time limit will lead to a delay in your passport delivery.

Check the Status of Your Visa

You can check the status of your application any time at this website: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx. Please wait at least three business days following your visa interview to check on the status of your application. The system may not have updated the status of your application prior to that time, and thus the message you receive may not reflect the actual status of your application.

Passport Tracking Options

For your convenience, you have several options to choose from to track the location of your passport.

Instant: Enter your passport number below to check on the status.

 

 

If your status shows "origination scan", it means your passport has left the Embassy or Consulate and is on its way to the delivery location you have chosen. It is however not available yet.

When the status shows "ready for pick up", it means that your passport is ready to be picked-up at the chosen Mail Boxes Etc. location or, in case of Premium Home Delivery, that the envelope with your passport has been registered with UPS and is on the way to the address indicated during the appointment scheduling process.

The Embassy or the Consulate cannot help you regarding the status of your passport delivery. Please do not contact the Embassy or Consulate regarding the status of your passport delivery.

Email: Send an e-mail to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.
