Apply for a Visa

Overview

Please confirm whether or not you need to apply for a visa. If you are an Indonesian national or a citizen of any other Visa Waiver Program participating country, or already hold a valid U.S. visa, you may not need to apply for a new U.S. visa

If you do need to apply for a nonimmigrant visa, please follow the steps below.

How to Apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa

Step 1 Pay the visa application fee.

Step 2 Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form.

Note: If you pay your visa application fee in cash at a Standard Chartered Bank or Permata Bank, then you can schedule your interview within four hours of payment. If you pay online at Permata Bank then you can schedule as soon as 3:00pm on the first banking day following the date of payment.

Step 3 Schedule your appointment. You will need three pieces of information in order to schedule your interview appointment:

    • Your passport number
    • Your fee payment receipt purchase date (due to banking regulations, this date may be later than the date you actually paid your fee - the tables on this page can help you determine your receipt purchase date)
    • The ten (10) digit barcode number from your DS-160 confirmation page

Step 4 Visit the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta or the Consulate General in Surabaya on the date and time of your visa interview. You will need to bring a printed copy of your appointment letter, your DS-160 confirmation page, one recent photograph, your current and all old passports, and the original visa fee payment receipt. Applications without all of these items will not be accepted.

Step 5 Your passport and visa are returned to you by courier

Note: Applicants under the age of 14 do not need to appear for an interview. Parents of children under the age of 14, however, are required to appear on behalf of their children. Children under the age of 14 who are not appearing in person for an interview may submit their application along with their parent's application. Even if the child is not required to appear for an interview, he/she must be physically present in the country where you are applying and at the time the interview takes place.
