Important Notice: Make sure that all information on the appointment confirmation letter matches exactly as it is written in English in your passport and the DS-160 application. This is especially important if someone helps you fill out the application! If your application and appointment confirmation do not match your passport, you will not be able to enter the Consulate for your appointment. If you are a citizen of a Visa Waiver Program partner but have received notice that you are no longer eligible to travel to the United States under that program, you should apply for a nonimmigrant visa at least three months in advance of your desired travel. If you do not have imminent travel plans, you should pay the nonimmigrant visa application fee, fill out the DS-160 nonimmigrant visa application form at ceac.state.gov/genniv/, and schedule a visa appointment. If your travel is imminent, you may request an expedited visa appointment after scheduling a regular appointment. Please include in your request the date and purpose of your travel, as well as a copy of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection message you received regarding your ESTA status. Applicants are encouraged to review the calendar when scheduling their appointments and select the soonest available appointment among the three locations (Riyadh, Dhahran and Jeddah) in Saudi Arabia. Passports will be delivered to the selected Aramex locations, regardless of interview locations. For example, you can have your interview at our Embassy in Riyadh and your passport delivered to Aramex in Jeddah. Applicants are reminded that scheduled interview locations are not interchangeable. Those appearing at unscheduled locations will not be admitted for interview and will be required to reschedule their appointments. For example, if your interview is scheduled for our Consulate General in Jeddah, you may not appear at our Embassy in Riyadh for your interview.
The Department of State acknowledges the International Civil Aviation Authority Organization (ICAO) deadline, requiring all travelers have a machine readable passport by November 24, 2015. Please note that under U.S. law a machine readable passport is NOT required for visa issuing purposes. So long as an applicant presents a valid passport, a visa can be placed in it.
As of November 29, 2016, Chinese citizens with 10-year B1, B2 or B1/B2 visas in Peoples’ Republic of China passports are required to update their biographical and other information from their visa application through the Electronic Visa Update System (EVUS) before travelling to the United States. This update must be done every two years, or upon getting a new passport or B1, B2, or B1/B2 visa, whichever occurs first.
EVUS enrollment is available at www.EVUS.gov. There is currently no fee for EVUS enrollment. Until a fee is implemented, travelers can enroll in EVUS without charge. The Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will keep visa holders informed of new information at www.cbp.gov/EVUS.
If you are unable to make your appointment for a visa interview, please re-schedule the visa interview BEFORE the time of the appointment. Applicants who fail to re-schedule their appointment in advance must start the visa application process over, including filling out a new DS-160. Applicants will NOT have to pay a new fee to schedule their appointment if they reschedule within one year of their original appointment. Applicants who are unable to use their receipt number to schedule a new appointment should contact GSS at firstname.lastname@example.org to unlock their receipt (the number of times a receipt may be unlocked is limited). Applicants may then schedule a new appointment for an interview. Please note that unlocking a receipt may take up to two weeks.
