Apply By Mail

Some applicants may not require an interview to receive a visa. These applicants may create their profile online then submit their application material via mail, preferably using an Express Post Satchel. These applicants must complete the From DS-160 and pay the application (MRV) fee.

Qualifications for Visa Application by Mail

There are one of two ways that you may qualify to use the Apply By Mail service.

If you meet all the criteria under ONE of the below headings (Apply By Mail Expansion or Apply By Mail Standard), then you may consider mailing in your application.

Apply By Mail Expansion

The Department of State announced the temporary waiver of in-person interviews for certain nonimmigrant visa applicants up until December 31, 2022. Please review and complete the Apply by Mail Expansion Coversheet if you are applying for a visa in categories F, M, O, P, Q, H-1, H-3, H-4, non-blanket L or academic J qualifying as secondary and university students, professors, research scholars, short-term scholars, or specialists.

Apply By Mail Standard

The Apply By Mail Standard option is for ALL VISA CATEGORIES except Blanket L1, E1, E2 visas. Please review and complete the Apply By Mail Standard Coversheet

Children below 14 years or an adult over 79 years old should refer to our instructions for Visas for Children and the Elderly.

If after reading the above information you do not qualify for an interview waiver, click here to schedule an appointment and appear in person for a nonimmigrant visa interview at a U.S. Consulate.
