Application Procedure

 

NOTE: This J-1 Visa application procedure applies only to government sponsored applicants with the G1, G2, G3 or G7 program codes on the DS-2019 form.

  • Please create a complete profile with our Visa Service Provider on this page and complete the necessary information including Step 5 of the process.
  • Retrieve the UID number (8-digit number) located on the top right corner and send it to BernNIV@state.gov specifying that you qualify for U.S. Government Sponsored Program and the preferred date (with an alternate date) for the interview. You must also provide an electronic pdf copy of your DS-160 confirmation page and the DS-2019 form.
  • Appointment days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday , Friday  from 08:15 to 11:00.
  • The Visa Section will inform you of the date and time of the appointment.
  • Applicants, who do not have to pay the visa application fee, will have to provide a self-addressed and stamped envelope.

IMPORTANT: Do not pay an MRV visa application fee through this site, as it will not be refunded.
