H2A and H2B Application through Visa Interview Waiver

On this page:

Overview

H-2A visas can be issued to seasonal agricultural workers to fill temporary agricultural jobs for which U.S. workers are not available. H-2B visas are issued to unskilled workers to perform a job which is temporary or seasonal in nature and for which there is a shortage of U.S. workers.

Once the employer has received Form I-797 notice of petition approval, the H2A/H2B applicant or applicants may submit their documentation through Correos de Costa Rica to apply via interview waiver. If you have questions about the online process, click here to request assistance. All visa applicants must be physically present in Costa Rica even if an interview is not required.

How to Apply

Pay the visa application fee for each H2 visa applicant.

Step 2

Complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form and print the confirmation page for each applicant.

  • If any applicants’ current or previous visa was issued in another passport, include that passport as well.
  • DS-160 electronic application form confirmation page for each applicant.

Step 7

The documentation for the applications will be forwarded through Correos de Costa Rica to the U.S. Embassy. Each application must have all the documents listed in Step 6. Applications with missing items will not be accepted.
