Overview

If your application is approved, there are two options for you to receive your passport: 

  • Mail Boxes Etc. (MBE) will deliver your passport to the pickup location you specified when you scheduled your appointment. There are no extra fees associated with this service - the cost for Mail Boxes Etc. to hold your passport is included in the visa application fee.
  • Mail Boxes Etc. offers a premium delivery service which they will deliver your passport to your home/office address. MBE charges US $17.0 for this service. The applicant selects the option “Premium Delivery” while scheduling his or her appointment on this website or by calling the call center. The applicant may register up to four additional people who will authorized to receive their passport at their home/office address. They will be required to show to the courier an official government-issued photo ID and sign for the documents. An applicant may request a refund if he or she pays for premium delivery, and MBE does not deliver the document. Refunds for premium delivery fees timeframe may vary, and MBE will retain a service charge of US $0.50.

PREMIUM Services: delivery and pick up of documents

As of November 1, 2021, all documents sent or received in most branches of Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) will have a cost of $9.00 (or its equivalent in Dominican Pesos according to the official exchange rate established by the Central Bank).

This change affects ALL active visa applications, both future appointments and applications in process within the Embassy. If your passport/documents are ready for pick up, you must do so before October 30, 2021 to avoid charges for the Premium service.

If you want to receive your documents free of charge, you must access your profile through https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=dominicanrepublic and update your pick up location to "MBE Tiradente" (Av. Tiradentes No. 10, Santo Domingo) or "Santo Domingo VAC" (Galerías 360, Santo Domingo), which are marked as "free of charge".  

Please have in mind the following important points when selecting your document delivery location:

  • If you process a shipment to the Embassy, ​​through a Premium branch, either by Dropbox (https://ustraveldocs.com/do/do-svc-visachild.asp) or 221g (https://ustraveldocs.com/do/do-niv-221ginfo.asp) these will have a shipping cost of $ 6.0 (or its equivalent in Dominican Pesos according to the official exchange rate established by the Central Bank).

  • If you wish to send documents free of charge, you must do so at the branches designated as "free of charge", which are"MBE Tiradente" (Av. Tiradentes No. 10, Santo Domingo) or "Santo Domingo VAC"(Galerías 360, Santo Domingo)

  • Each operation of sending or receiving documents will have the previously indicated cost of $9.00. The amount will be paid at the Premium branches for each procedure you carry out

  • For the "Premium Delivery" or home delivery service, which has a cost of $ 17.0, it is mandatory that you enter all your shipping information in the provider's portal that is presented at the moment of scheduling your appointment.

  • Please note that if you select the “free of charge” location you will likely experience long waiting times for both delivering and picking up documents due to long lines.

  • If you wish to make a change of delivery location, we clarify that this can be done BEFORE your visa is issued.

Locations and Schedules

Please note that holidays and hours of operation may differ for Mail Boxes Etc. locations based on local holidays and conditions. Please contact Mail Boxes Etc. at 809-333-2002 if you would like further information on holidays for a specific Mail Boxes Etc. location.

Pick-up Information

CGI Federal and Mail Boxes Etc. provide facilities where your passport is held for pick-up. You will see a list of our passport/visa collection locations when you schedule your interview and can choose the most convenient location from that list.

To collect passport/visa from Stanley/Mail Boxes Etc. collection locations you will have to carry following Supporting Documents (as applicable) Please present your ORIGINAL valid government-issued photo ID (cedula) to the security personnel at the entrance and then proceed with the following documents.

Important Note:
  • Govt. issued photo ID can be Cedula, Passport, Dominican Residency Card or Driving License
  • An ORIGINAL letter of authority must contain the following information:
    • Representative's full name as on their government-issued photo ID
    • Applicant’s name and Passport number
  • If applicant's spouse is collecting passport/document on behalf of the applicant  please bring relevant documents as listed in the table above.
  • A copy of your Appointment letter along with above supporting documents is recommended for speedy collection of passport at the counter.

Please note that passports not collected within 14 calendar days will be returned to the U.S. Embassy and you will need to arrange to pick up your passports/documents directly from the Consular Section.

The U.S. Embassy will contact the applicant directly to inform them how to collect their documents from the Consular Section.

To collect passports and visas returned to the Embassy, you will need an ORIGINAL government  ID. If a representative wishes to pick up a passport on behalf of applicant, he/she should carry an ORIGINAL signed authority letter from the applicant with an ORIGINAL government ID.

Change Delivery Options

You may change your preferred document pick up location online or through the call center until 11:59 p.m. the day of your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your delivery preferences. Changes to the document collection locations after 11:59 p.m. on the day of your interview appointment will not be accepted.
