Overview
If your visa application is approved, your passport and visa will be returned to you by the S.F. Express courier service. Your documents will be delivered to the address or document pickup location you provided when you registered. We offer home/office delivery in Hong Kong except for:
- Parts of Lantau Island
- Other Outlying islands
- Military or Justice department locations
- Macau
Note: Macau applicants will have the option of picking up their documents in Hong Kong or Macau.
Please note that if you do not pick up your passport packet within 15 days, your passport packet will be returned to the Consulate by S.F. Express Courier. Furthermore, home/office delivery is not available to Macau or mainland China. Your passport packet cannot be delivered Overseas nor in Mainland China. If you select home/office delivery and input an address outside Hong Kong, your application will not be delivered and returned after 15 days to the US Consulate General, leading to important delays.
Effective April 17, 2023, Hong Kong applicants who have selected Shau Kei Wan pick up location can pick up their passports and submit their 221(g) documents for free at S.F. Express - Unit 1, G/F, Centro-Sound Industrial Building, No.6, A Kung Ngam Village Road, Shau Kei Wan, Eastern District, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong.
Applicants can select any other SFX pickup/drop-off locations for a fee of HKD 103 to be paid (cash only) at the counter when picking up their passports or dropping off their (221(g) documents from/at the 4 other locations in Hong Kong/ Macau:
- Kwun Tong, Workshop No.1, G/F, Hung To Industrial Building, 80 Hung To Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. Opening hours Monday to Friday 9:00 am-8:00pm, Saturday: 9:00am to 4:00pm closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
- Tsim Sha Tsui, Unit A, B & C, G/F, Eu Yan Sang Tower, Nos. 11-15 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Opening hours Monday to Saturday 9:00 am-8:00pm, Sundays and Public Holidays: 9:00am-6:00pm
- Wan Chai, G/F, 182 Jaffe Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Opening hours Monday to Friday 9:00 am-8:00pm, Saturday: 9:00am to 4:00pm closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
- Effective January 26, 2023, applicants can choose again the Macau self-pickup location for their passport collection and 221(G) documents submission. The address is G/F, 3B Veng Fung Industrial Building, Rua Cinco Bairro Da Areia Preta, Macau. There is a pickup/ drop off fee of MOP 106 to be paid (cash only) at the counter
SFX Home / Office delivery will become premium for a fee of HKD 263 per passport, to be paid on delivery to the SFX courier (cash only).
For 221(g) immigrant visa submission of passports/ documents, the applicant may submit one package family for a single fee.
For 221(g) Non-immigrant visa submission of passports/ documents, the applicant is required to pay HK$103.00 or MOP 106.00 per applicant.

If you select for home delivery but may not be home at the time of delivery, please complete a letter of authority for a member of your household to give to the S.F. Express courier.
Change Delivery Options
You may change your preferred document delivery address online or through the call center any time before 11:59p.m. on the day of your interview appointment. There is no cost to change your delivery preferences.
Check the Status of Your Visa
If you are a nonimmigrant applicant, you may check your DS-160 and visa application status online here by entering your interview location and your DS-160 barcode number. If you are an immigrant visa applicant, you will enter your case number.
Passport Tracking Options
For your convenience, you have several options to choose from to track the location of your passport.
Instant: Enter your passport number below to check on the status. If your passport is ready for pick-up, please bring supporting documents and collect it in a timely manner. If your passport is not collected in a timely manner it will be sent back to the Embassy or Consulate.
Email: Send an email to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.
Online: You can track your passport online here.

Collecting Your Passport/Visa
If you chose to collect your passport/visa at the courier office you will need to visit a S.F. Express office during normal business hours. To find the S.F. Express office nearest to you, please see below.
Visa Processing Times
For Nonimmigrant Visa applicants:
Note: All passports must be left at the Consulate on the day of the interview for visa processing. If you have immediate travel planned, please reschedule your visa appointment to another day when you can leave your passport at the Consulate. If you choose to take your passport back after your interview, you will be required to reschedule your appointment for another day.
For passport collection, the applicant is required to pay HK$103.00 per applicant, except for Shau Kei Wan.
- Shau Kei Wan pickup location – Fastest option for passport return. Usually available for pick-up 1-2 business days after the visa is approved.
Please note that by selecting this location, you are not applying for expedited visa processing nor do we provide expedited visa processing. Passports will be available starting 16:30. - Wanchai pickup location – Fastest option for passport return. Usually available for pick-up 1-2 business days after the visa is approved.

- Tsim Sha Tsui pickup location – Usually available for pick-up 1-2 business days after the visa is approved.
- Kwun Tong pickup location – Usually available for pick-up 1-2 business days after the visa is approved.
- Macau pickup location – approximately 4 business days, after your visa is approved.
- S.F. Express will deliver your passport to the address you provided in 5 business days, after your visa is approved.
For Immigrant Visa applicants:
If you are eligible for an immigrant visa on the day of your interview, you should allow approximately 7-10 business days for your application to be processed.
For passport collection, the applicant may pay one package family for a single fee.

Supporting Documents
To collect your passport you must present your original (not a photocopy) government-issued photo ID. We recommend you also bring a printed copy of your appointment letter and / or have your UID number at hand. We also invite you to check on the spot you are collecting the right passport(s).
If a representative is collecting your passport from the document collection office on your behalf, even in case of family members, the representative must present:
- Their own original government-issued photo ID for identification;
- A photocopy of your government-issued photo ID; and
- A letter of authority, signed by you, authorizing your representative to collect your passport. The letter of authority must contain the following information:
- Your representative's full name as shown on their government-issued photo ID
- Your name
If the applicant is under the age of 18, the following documents are required:
- An original, signed letter of authority from either of the applicant's parents;
- A clear photocopy of the government-issued photo ID belonging to the parent who signed the applicant's letter of authority; and
- The representative's original government-issued photo ID.
Note: In case of a group/family, a single letter of authority with the required information for each of the applicants will be accepted.
