Schedule/Change my Appointment

Most applicants for U.S. visas are required to appear in person for a personal interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where they reside. Applicants must schedule an appointment for that interview, either online or through the call center.

In order to schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment, you must have the following information and documents available:

  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions. (Malaysia and the United States do have such an agreement, and an applicant’s Malaysian passport need only be valid upon entry to the U.S. and for the duration of stay.) If more than one person is included in the passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • Standard Chartered Bank fee receipt
  • DS-160 confirmation page
  • E-mail address
  • If applicable, required documents based on visa class (such as a petition approval for petition-based visas; see detailed lists in the information provided on this website about visa classes).

Remember, apply early! Though visa processing time is typically two working days, processing time for specific cases may vary due to individual circumstances and other special requirements.
