Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why only one passport per envelope? Why no family discounts?
A: There is no additional charge for courier return of your passport; all costs are included in your MRV application fee. Security and safety rules for the courier require that every passport be tracked separately.

Q: What happens to the passport if I’m not at home when the courier comes?
A: Aramex will attempt delivery of your passport only at the address you provided when scheduling your interview. If unable to deliver, they will leave a “we’re sorry” card indicating that they had attempted delivery. Please contact Aramex immediately upon receiving this card. If the passport is not delivered within 10 business days, it will be returned back to the Embassy/Consulate. Please contact our helpline for further information.

Q: Does the passport have to be delivered to my house?
A: No. Your passport can be delivered to your office or to your family, although they must present authorized identification in order to accept your passport.

Q: What do I need to show when Aramex delivers the passport?
A:
In order to ensure that your passport and visa are not given to an unauthorized person, identification is required in addition to signature for all document deliveries. You must present your own government-issued photo ID card (e.g., MyKad) and the numbered ticket received at your interview (or the numbered receipt received when you dropped off your passport, if an interview was not required).
If receiving the passport for immediate family members, you must show a copy of the applicant’s government-issued photo ID in addition to your own ID and the numbered ticket.
If receiving the passport of someone who is not a member of your immediate family, in addition to the applicant’s government-issued ID, your ID and the numbered ticket, you must present an authorization letter, signed by the applicant, stating:

  • Full name of the representative as stated on the ID card.
  • Name of the applicant whose passport is to be collected.
  • Ticket number of applicant whose passport is to be collected. Immigrant visa applicants must provide their case t number in the letter.

Please note: In case of a group/family, a single authority letter with the required information for each of the applicants will be accepted.

IMPORTANT: Aramex will be unable to deliver the passport if any of the above mentioned documents are not available.

Q: What is “Hold At Location”?
A When you schedule your appointment, you may request pick-up at a “Hold at Location”, or HAL, one of the Aramex offices, rather than have it delivered to your home or office. You will be shown the option for HAL offices available for collection prior to confirming your interview appointment.

Passports will be held by Aramex for collection for only 10 business days. If not collected within the specified time period your passport will be returned to the Embassy.

Q: How can I or my representative collect my passport at an Aramex office location?
A: In order to ensure that your passport and visa are not given to an unauthorized person, identification is required in addition to signature for all document deliveries.

IMPORTANT: Aramex will be unable to deliver the passport if any of the above mentioned documents are not available.

Q: How will I get my passport back after the interview?
A: Aramex will deliver passports only at the address specified by you at the time you scheduled your interview. The delivery address can be changed up to 11:59 pm the day of your interview, but not after. The cost of the courier is included in the MRV application fee.

Q: Can my representative collect my passport in my absence?
A: Yes. Representatives need to provide the authorization letter and proof of identity listed above.

Q: What are the accepted “government-recognized photo IDs”?

A: Malaysian personal identity card (MyKad) or Malaysian residence card, a personal identity card issued by your country of nationality, a Malaysian drivers license, a valid driver’s license issued by another country, a valid passport or, if you are the visa applicant, copy of the photo and data page of the passport being received.

Q: I have to pay any fees to Aramex for the courier service?

A: No. This fee is already included in your MRV application fee or immigrant visa fee.
