If your visa application is approved, your passport and visa will be returned by DHL using GTS Premium Services.

You may have your passport returned with home delivery or with personal pickup at the DHL Supply Chain office.
The delivery fee must be paid on the GTS Premium website before the U.S. Embassy releases the passport.

1. Collection from the DHL Pickup Location - 150 NOK (per applicant)

Please visit the website, insert your UID number (found in brackets, next to your e-mail address, on the right upper corner of your profile), select "Norway" as the country of application, click on "U.S. Embassy Oslo," and select the "Pick-up Option". Provide the necessary and valid mailing information and also select the number of applicants for whom you will pay.

      • Please ring the bell at the reception when you arrive.
      • Bring with you the payment confirmation received from the GTS
      • If a third party picks up your passport, please provide a power of attorney which is signed by both of you (delegated person and passport holder). The authorized person must show a copy of the Photo IDs (delegated person and passport holder)

2. Home Delivery with GTS Premium - 490 NOK (per applicant)
Please select the Premium delivery option below, click the registration link to provide your delivery address, and pay the delivery fee. Provide a correct and complete home or work address in Norway and at least one valid phone number. Postboxes cannot be used.

Please make the document delivery registration on the GTS website on time (before the passport is released by the Embassy) and follow all the instructions to avoid service delays!

You will receive a notification via e-mail as soon as your passport is ready to be delivered to you.

The delivery timeline is 1 - 3 business days, once the delivery payment was confirmed and attached to your profile. 


The passport will only be delivered against a signature by a person at the address mentioned.


During the delivery process, DHL will make 3 delivery attempts. If unsuccessful, the passport will be returned to the U.S. Embassy in Oslo.


If you have selected Home delivery and your passport is in Origination Scan status for more than 3 working days, please contact to confirm the delivery payment.

Delivery fee refunds

If the U.S. Embassy does not approve your visa and no passport delivery was required, GTS will reimburse you for the amount paid for the home delivery service. Applicants must send an e-mail to along with their DS-160 number within 5 business days of the Visa refusal. Refunds do not apply for deliveries that were not made because the applicant was not available at the time of delivery.

Check the Status of Your Visa

You can check the status of your application any time at this website: Please wait at least three business days following your visa interview to check on the status of your application. The system may not have updated the status of your application prior to that time, and thus the message you receive may not reflect the actual status of your application.

Passport Tracking Options

For your convenience, you have several options to choose from to track the location of your passport.

The status of the passport delivery can be traced on DHL Norway web site using the tracking number you received at the email address provided in your profile on our website.

If your status shows "Origination scan", it means your passport has left the Embassy or Consulate is on its way to the delivery location you have chosen. It is however not available yet.

If you have selected Home delivery and your passport is in Origination Scan status for more than 3 working days, please contact to confirm the delivery payment.

When the status shows "Ready for Pickup", it means that DHL Norway is about to deliver your passport at the address indicated during the address registration process.

The Embassy or the Consulate cannot help you regarding the status of your passport delivery. Please do not contact the Embassy or Consulate regarding the status of your passport delivery.

Email: Send an e-mail to and in the subject and/or body enter a valid passport number exactly as it was entered at the time the appointment was scheduled. Do not include any additional text. You will receive an automatic response with the status.
