Submitting additional Documents

Overview

The American Institute in Taiwan may give you a 221(g) letter or written instructions directing you to submit additional documents or information related to your visa application. Your application will be kept on hold at the American Institute in Taiwan until you submit those documents. 

All documents and information requested should be submitted to AIT within one year from the date you applied. Failure to submit the required information within one year will result in the termination of your visa application. If you delay more than one year, you will be required to submit a new visa application and pay all associated fees in order to continue with your visa application process.

How to Submit additional Documents

Electronic Copies via Email

If you received instructions to send via email an electronic copy of a document, send it in PDF along with the notification letter to the American Institute in Taiwan, Non-Immigrant Visa Unit by email at visaniv-ait@state.gov .

Original Documents dropped off at a designated document delivery location

* Important Notice
Effective February 1, 2022, the Drop off/Pick-up at courier locations will be considered Premium Service and appropriate fees will apply depending on the location selected.  These delivery fees are charged by the courier company and will be collected in cash by courier staff when you drop off, pick up, or receive your documents.  Please do NOT put money inside your document package.  Exact change required.

  • Drop off/Pick-up of passport/documents at the SF Express Taipei Neihu Distribution Center (Address: No.21, Ln. 140, Xing’ai Rd., Neihu Dist., Taipei City 114, Taiwan): free of charge.
  • Drop off/pick up at any other SF Express courier locationsTWD280 per passport/documents.
  • Delivery to your designated (home/office) address: TWD320 per passport/documents.

    You can have a representative assist you to drop off, pick up, or receive your passport/documents on your behalf.

If you received instructions to submit original documents, you can take the documents to a designated document delivery location for delivery to AIT.  Please take the following steps.

Step 1

Click here to print a Document Submission Letter. Complete the checklist manually. 

Step 2

Go to the nearest document delivery location.Take your submission slip, the 221(g) letter or written instructions given to you at the American Institute in Taiwan and all documents requested. 

Step 3

Drop-off your documents, the submission slip, and the 221(g) letter (or written instructions) at one of the designated document delivery locations. The courier gives you a receipt for your documents. 

Step 4

The courier delivers your documents to the American Institute in Taiwan. 

Step 5

The courier returns your documents and your passport to you at your chosen document pick-up location. If issued, your passport will contain your visa. You may also receive a new refusal letter.
