Important change: If you wish to keep your appointment, you do not need to register your appointment/create a profile with Instead, please purchase a waybill per below instructions:

If your visa is approved the passport will be returned to you via Postnord services.

In order for the U.S. Embassy to return your passport, approved visa, and other documents, please purchase a registered waybill from Postnord. See instructions below:


  1. Visit Postnord ’Skicka Direkt’website
  2. For a secure and traceable shipment, we strongly encourage you to select Registered Service (REK).Your documents will be sent to the local post office, and the receiver must claim the parcel by showing a valid Government issued ID from country of residence or a valid passport. If you don’t have a valid identification document, you must address your waybill to someone you trust who can claim your parcel on your behalf.
  3. Select the appropriate weight (250g for 1-2 passport, 500g for 3-5 passports). If your immigrant visa application is based on employment, please select 2kg

On request: If you have been requested by the U.S. Embassy to send in your waybill by email, please forward your waybill (frakthandling) as a PDF document with returning correspondence.Please make sure to list your case number (it should be thirteen digits long, and will begin with three letters, such as STK) in the subject line.

Visa appointment: If you have scheduled a visa appointment with the Immigrant Visa Unit, please print your waybill and bring to your visa appointment (see example below).

*Please note that unused waybills can be redeemed within a 14-day period from the time of purchase by contacting Postnord customer service. We do not recommend to purchase a waybill more than 5 days prior the scheduled visa appointment.
