The U.S. Department of State has increased certain nonimmigrant visa (NIV) application processing fees. These fee increases are effective June 17, 2023.

  • The application fee for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s), and other non-petition based NIVs, such as student and exchange visitor visas, has increased from $160 to $185.
  • The application fee for certain petition-based nonimmigrant visas for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) has increased from $190 to $205.
  • The application fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicant in a specialty occupation (E category) has increased from $205 to $315.

Services for making new visa fee payments will be suspended on June 16, 2023. Do not attempt to make a visa fee payment on June 16, 2023. The services will become available for visa fee payments on June 17, 2023. Additionally, there could be a delay in updating visa fee information mentioned on this site. Please refer to the official notice, “Nonimmigrant Visa Fee Increases”, on this site for additional details.


DO NOT bring children 13 years of age or below to the embassy for a visa interviews. Children should also not accompanying their parents for the parents’ visa interview. Parents must bring their children’s visa application documents to the embassy during the parent’s interview. Please note that if parents bring their children to the embassy, the children will not be admitted to the interview room. They will wait in the outdoor waiting area with one of the parents while the other does his/her interview. Once again DO NOT bring children 13 years and under to the embassy for a visa interview.


All nonimmigrant visa application fee (also known as the MRV fee) payments made on or after October 1, 2022, are valid for 365 days from the date a receipt is issued for payment of the MRV fee. Applicants must schedule an interview appointment or submit an interview waiver application during this 365-day period. Please note applicants must only schedule their interview or submit their waiver application within the 365-day period. There is no requirement the interview must occur during the 365-day period. All receipts for payment of MRV fees issued before October 1, 2022, were extended until September 30, 2023, and remain valid until this date.



Dear Applicant, please note that your failure to provide accurate contact information (phone numbers and email) will result in the delay or even inability to delivery your passport to the pickup location. It is essential that you provide your correct contact information.


All children under 18 years old who have scheduled an appointment for their visas MUST be accompanied by one of their parents to be allowed to attend their interviews.


Please note that failure to send the interview waiver confirmation letter with your passport for visa renewal will result in the delay of your application. Without a copy of the letter, your passport will be sent back to you. Please submit the letter and the passport for processing. If your passport is returned from the embassy for any additional requirements. Please do not pay a new visa fee, or begin a new application unless the embassy asks for it. Please make sure to print your Interview waiver letter right after you are qualified.
